This week on All Night Jazz we’ll also focus on bassist Eddie Gomez. Born in Puerto Rico on October 4, 1944, Gomez moved to New York at a young age.

He studied bass at the celebrated New York City High School of Music and Art with a who’s who of future jazz greats such as George Cables and Billy Cobham and later attended Julliard.

Throughout his long and successful career, Gomez has worked with the likes of Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, Chick Corea and others. He spent 11 years as the bassist for Bill Evans and was also a member of the fusion group, Steps Ahead.
